Responsibilities:
The Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting facility PLC and SCADA systems. This includes calibration of system instrumentation field devices, management of PLC control panels, ladder logic, field instrumentation loops, network communications, alarm management and SCADA system.
- Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe workplace, Performs all work in a safe manner
- Tracks and trends operation of Instrumentation systems
- Maintain calibration logs for all measurement devices
- Provides weekly/monthly reports and trends
- Monitors network traffic to proactively identify issues.
- Works with System Engineer to ensure control loops are tuned to meet specification
- Maintenance and Operations support of PLC/SCADA and DDC automation systems
- Maintains calibration of measurement systems as required by CMMS PM scheduling system.
- Responds to Instrumentation issues to support continuous factory operations.
- Monitors Instrumentation systems for potential problems (or existing problems) and formulates solutions to the System Engineer for appropriate action.
- Maintains backup database for all logic
- Additional duties based on business needs, including ERT
Knowledge and Personal skills:
- Safety awareness/knowledge/training when working with I&C and low voltage electrical systems.
- Professionally communicate issues, ideas and recommendations with system engineers.
- Minimum 5 years I&C experience in Industrial environment, semiconductor experience preferred
- Working knowledge or RSLogix 5000
- Ability to effectively use one or more of the following when troubleshooting control systems: instrumentation loop drawings, electrical diagrams and P&ID diagrams.
- Perform instrumentation calibration for typical field instrumentation: Level, Temperature, pH (Analytical), Flow, Pressure transmitters, control valves and positioners.
- Demonstrate knowledge of PID controllers, final control elements and Variable Frequency Drives. Ability to tune PID controllers.
- Working knowledge with two or more of the following: Building DDC controls, SCADA control systems, PLC based control systems and DCS control systems.
- Working knowledge with HMI Operator interfaces.
- Working knowledge with instrumentation calibration equipment and procedures. VOM meter, temperature baths, instrument loop calibrators/simulators, pneumatic test equipment and gauges.
- Computer literate with Windows applications and maintenance CMMS packages.
- ISA certification desirable.

- Duties will include any and all other directions of supervision that can safely be performed by the incumbent.
Experience, Education, and Training:
- High School Diploma
- Job grade is dependent up on experience in maintenance, construction, repair and servicing of industrial automation systems
- Associate degree in Electrical/Electronic program or successful completion of I&C apprenticeship training program or I&C technical training program is preferred
- ISA Control System Technician Certification preferred but not required
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel and CMMS Programs
- Valid Drivers License (if Mobile)
Physical Requirements:
The I&C Technician may spend extended hours working inside and outside in all weather conditions, and in awkward body positions which can cause physical discomfort and strain.
Required to regularly lift up to 50 lbs and to adjust heavy objects.
Foreseeably the position will come in contact with sharp, hot, and cold equipment, and parts.
Must be medically qualified to wear a personal respirator.
Must have the ability to safely climb ladders, and work at elevation from ladders, scaffolding, lifts, roofs, or platforms, and the ability to work in confined spaces.
