Facilities Technician - Mechanical

As a member of the Facilities team in the role of Mechanical Technician, your primary duty will be to oversee the upkeep and functionality of all HVAC equipment, including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and air handling units. Additionally, you will maintain other miscellaneous facility equipment, such as specialty air abatement systems, vacuum systems, process cooling water systems, as well as all associated piping, ductwork, and control components. Your responsibilities will include monitoring, operating, and maintaining equipment on a daily basis, while also working in coordination with engineers and contractors to ensure seamless plant operations that do not interfere with the manufacturing process.

 

The salary range for this role is $25.84 to $31.58 with a typical starting rate of $27.00 per hour.  The final offered salary will be determined based on the selected candidate’s qualifications.

 

Position will be a on a 12-hour compressed work schedule (3 days on, 4 days off, followed by 4 days on, 3 days off). After initial training period on days (2-4 months of training is typical, depends on experience) this position will be assigned to night shift long-term.

 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Perform daily operations including daily rounds, shift passdowns, reviewing trend data, responding to system alarms, receiving chemical deliveries, and maintaining area 6S.
  • Technicians will train under senior technicians and engineers, performing written OJT (On the Job Training) panels as systems are learned. 
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance and troubleshooting on various equipment and systems, utilizing written procedures, O&M manuals, drawings and diagrams, and assist in construction and commissioning related to system improvements and new system installs.

 

 

Requirements:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in a related technical field, preferred.
  • Strong professional attitude with a safety focus, excellent teamwork skills, self-motivation, and reliability in work execution.
  • Computer skills including MS office and ability to learn new programs specific to the job.
  • Ability to read plant and equipment drawings/controls diagrams.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude/troubleshooting skills.
  • Hands on experience with piping, electrical, HVAC, or similar.
  • Experience with hand/power tools.
  • Technical knowledge of semiconductor /industrial mechanical equipment (HVAC, air handling units, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, process piping systems, air abatement systems, etc.) preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of industrial controls systems (SCADAs, Allen Bradley PLCs, etc.) preferred.
  • Must meet physical requirements: i.e., working from ladders, climbing stairs, lifting 50# loads, confined space entry, working 12-hour shift which includes recurrent walking with standard breaks, working outside in any conditions, wearing a respirator and other PPE, working around industrial chemicals.
  • Occasional work in a clean room wearing clean room attire.
  • Ability to work any shift. (day or night)
  • Ability to work overtime when requested.
  • Ability to be a member of the Emergency Response Team. (ERT)
