Principal Incoming Material Quality Engineer

As a Principal Incoming Material Quality Engineer, you will be responsible to ensure all materials used for product manufacturing comply to quality requirements, and build strong relationships with supplier’s to improve their quality capabilities. An understanding of fab processes and the related materials and chemicals is essential to ensure effective coordination between internal user requirements match supplier deliveries. Using a process approach you will ensure the effective implementation of the incoming material process to gate material quality, assure effective internal material management, and determine root causes to abnormality with effective actions to prevent recurrence. The ability to continually improve quality and data systems is essential to drive towards the zero-defect expectation of our automotive and medical coustomers. Continued integration with the TSMC parent company necessitates creative solutions to ensure we meet the corporate best practices while accommodating local risks and resources.

 

While this position is scheduled to work core business hours, Monday-Friday, there may be times when additional hours are necessary.

 

 Responsibilities include: 

  • Implement the system to manage incoming materials including daily material gating, OCAP, documentation, coordination with other parties.
  • Communicate with vendors to ensure quality requirements are met.  Audit and coach them to improve their quality systems.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to identify requirements, assess risks, and build systems.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for materials and chemistry, performing research for new materials and problem analysis.
  • Familiarity with data systems to the extent of defining requirements for IT, and the ability to validate systems meet requirements. Knowledge of AI, SQL, VBA, and Oracle, or similar, is a plus.
  • Work as part of the larger TSMC company complying to corporate standards while adapting to local risks and resources.  Drive for continuous improvement to improve effectiveness and efficiency.  Proactively identify, prioritize and be responsible for solutions.
  • Document and refine procedures to ensure their effective implementation, including error proofing.  Ensure records are maintained and identify and implement validating self-audit practices.

 

Requirements:  

  • All applicants must possess legal authorization to work for any employer in the United States, and the employer cannot provide sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related physical science discipline.
  • 8 -12 years-experience with IC manufacturing a plus.
  • Communicate with suppliers for material and chemical quality management.
  • Follow a process approach to ensure direct and indirect production materials and chemicals meet requirements before release to production.
  • Support business continuity activities to identify and prioritize risks, identify alternative sources and work with owners to qualify.
  • Follow problem solving processes to identify root causes and applicable actions for non-conformances from both internal and external sources.
  • Perform supplier audits to ISO9001 and, as applicable, IATF16949.  Knowledgeable on ISO14001 and QC080000 a plus.
  • Application of quality concepts and tools including a process approach, risk management including FMEA, control plan, MSA, calibration, SPC, OCAP, 8D/DMAIC, DOE, 3-leg/5-why.
  • Familiarity with chemical analysis methods including ICPMS, GFAA, IC, and Auto-titrator, FTIR.
  • Familiarity with data systems to the extent of defining requirements for IT, and the ability to validate systems meet requirements.  Knowledge of SQL, VBA, and Oracle, or similar, is a plus.
  • Fluency with Microsoft office programs including Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel including macros.  Must have efficient data handling and analysis capability in excel including formulas, and pivot tables.
  • Ability to work with AI tools

Work Location & Schedule: 

This position operates on-site at our Camas, Washington location during core business hours, Monday through Friday 8 am – 5 pm; however, there may be occasions when additional hours are necessary to meet project demands.

Pay Transparency & Other Compensation

At TSMC, your base pay is just one component of your comprehensive compensation package. For new hires in this position, the starting salary typically ranges between $88,672.00 and $121,923.00 per year. The full salary range for this Job Grade extends from $88,672.00 - $133,008.00 depending on factors such as skills, qualifications, education, experience, tenure, and position level. TSMC’s total compensation package also includes market-competitive pay, profit sharing and incentive bonuses, and tuition assistance.

 

* This position is also eligible for a Sign-On Bonus depending on various factors.

* This position is also eligible for a Relocation Bonus depending on various factors.
