Spring 2025 - CAD/Software Intern
Overview of Role
TSMC Canada has an opening for a CAD/Software Intern for our regional office in Ottawa, Ontario. As an 6–8-month Intern within TSMC Design Technology Canada Inc., you will work within one of the Memory Design Teams, to focus on CAD, S/W projects, as well as work within the Verification space for VLSI circuits. Working and learning under the direction of the Manager/ senior member of the team, you will work on defined segments of projects. As your skills progress, progressively increasing challenges may be assigned. As an Intern, you will be assigned a defined project, bound by the company’s Proprietary Information Protection policies and practices. You will have the enviable opportunity to learn and work alongside a diversified team who do research and design on the world’s most advanced CMOS/FinFET processes.
Responsibilities
- Enhance internally generated software utilities for efficiency, control, and documentation
- Create software/scripts to check generated data to categorize them for sorting, finding outliers
- Create software/scripts to compare data generated from different flows for correspondence and match
- Perform functional verification preparing Manufacturing/tester patterns and debug of failing tests
- Contribute to the customization of standard digital verification methodologies and help improve the electronic design automation (EDA) capabilities of the group.
Qualifications
- Final year of Master’s program in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science or equivalent program
- Scripting and programming skills to help automate complex design tasks and flows (e.g., skill/experience in automation of tasks in a production or semi-production setting, skill in using Linux scripting tool, and ability in various of S/W languages (i.e. Perl, Python, C, C++))
- Aptitude for Semiconductor related Engineering and Problem solving, and strong ability to learn.
- Knowledge and experience in design of digital and/or mixed signal circuit as additional qualification
- Solid integrity, goal orientated; attention to excellent quality; ability to commit and deliver on schedule; enthusiastic.
