Job Summary

The Department Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and directing the daily operations of a designated production line segment or area during their assigned shift. This role involves leading a team of Manufacturing Specialists, ensuring the team work cohesively to meet tool efficiency, maintaining high-quality standards, upholding safety protocols, and meeting production targets. The Supervisor is expected to direct, motivate, train, and performance manage a team of production line employees. They will act as a critical link between management and the production floor, driving continuous improvement and fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Essential Functions

The Department Manufacturing Supervisor will perform various duties, including, but not limited to, the following:

Team Lead & Supervision

  • Direct and lead a team of technicians to carry out activities associated with production line requirements.
  • Foster a positive team atmosphere, promote teamwork, and resolve interpersonal conflicts.
  • Manage employee attendance, breaks, and schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Assign tasks, provide guidance, and monitor the performance of team members.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s and performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and address performance issues or disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Work with team leader to prioritize or allocate resources to meet daily job needs.
  • Co-work with Human Resources on recruiting and retention for MFG Direct Labor.
  • Ensure MFG training requirements align with company and department goals.
  • Facilitate development of training (courses, OJT enhancement) as needed to support the team.
  • Conduct shift handover meetings, ensuring a smooth transition and clear communication of critical information.
  • Escalate significant operational issues, personnel concerns, or safety risks to management promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with the Section Managers, other shift supervisors, and supporting Engineers to resolve issues timely.

Production Support & Coordination

  • Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to schedules, quality standards, and efficiency targets.
  • Identify and troubleshoot production bottlenecks, equipment malfunctions, and operational issues, implementing timely solutions.
  • Optimize resource allocation, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to maximize output and minimize waste.
  • Track and report on key production metrics such as efficiency, lost time, cycle time, uptime.
  • Co-work with engineers to identify and optimize production process to improve too productivity.
  • Enforce all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA).

Required Qualifications

  • Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree with focus in Operation Management, Manufacturing, or related STEM fields
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing production environment
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in leadership role – leading a team of 10+ people
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work in a fast-paced environment.

Core Competencies

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to support coaching, and motivate team members.
  • Possess high technical capabilities to learn and understand production line processes
  • Ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Power BI and can pick up knowledge of homegrown systems/reports.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a clean room environment wearing proper clean room garments (full cleanroom suit, protective eyewear, gloves, hood, and mask).
  • Must be able to work with computers extensively while remaining sedentary in an office environment throughout the shift.
  • Visual acuity for reading technical documents and analyzing data.
  • Manual dexterity for operating tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to perform the duties of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Able to work any assigned shift schedule (days, nights or swing shift) per business needs.
