Electrical Technician I

Electrical Technician I

  • The Electrical Technician I performs routine electrical installation tasks with moderate supervision. This role includes executing conduit runs, pulling and routing wire, assisting with terminations, and preparing for journeyman certification. The Electrician I applies safe work practices, interprets basic drawings, and begins to take ownership of assigned scopes.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Installation Execution:
    • Install conduit systems (EMT, RMC, PVC, flex) per drawings and layout instructions
    • Pull branch circuit and control wiring using cable pullers and guides
    • Assist in terminations of panels, junction boxes, devices, and field equipment
    • Install cable trays, strut supports, and raceways as directed
  • Drawing Interpretation & Layout:
    • Read and follow single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and installation drawings
    • Identify routing paths, box locations, and wire tags
    • Mark layout positions for boxes, outlets, and equipment using measurement tools
  • Safety & Clean Work Practices:
    • Follow LOTO procedures and energized work restrictions strictly
    • Maintain safe use of ladders, lifts, and power tools
    • Use torque tools and document connections when required by spec or QA
  • Documentation & Support:
    • Begin filling out daily progress reports or log sheets (e.g., conduit installed, wire pulled)
    • Tag wires, label boxes, and maintain labeling discipline
    • Assist with redline updates and as-built drawing verification as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Highschool diploma or equivalent
    • 1-3 years of electrical field experience

 

  • Technical Skills:
    • Clear knowledge of electrical PPE, arc flash risk, and proper tool use
    • Proficient with basic electrical hand and power tools
    • Understanding of wire types, insulation ratings, and color coding
    • Familiar with installation tolerances, bend radii, and conduit support spacing
    • Capable of passing electrical safety and LOTO training for task-level work
    • Familiarity with NEC standards, local code requirements, and safe work procedures is preferred
  • Interpersonal Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work habits
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Capable of lifting materials, working on ladders/lifts, and standing for long periods of time

 

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Active participation in an apprenticeship or electrical training program  
    • Familiarity with NEC standards, local code requirements, and safe work procedures

 

Shift Expectations:

  • TSMC Arizona operates 24/7, 365 days a year. This position requires candidate to have ability and willingness to work any shift (day or night) in a compressed work week schedule once training is done. The compressed work week shift structure is Work 4 days on, 3 days off for one week and 3 days on, 4 days off the next week.  Shift is 12 hour shifts from 6am to 6pm or 6pm to 6am.
