TSMC Arizona is looking for a Facilities Mechanical Section Manager to join our 5-nanometer fab, located in sunny Phoenix, Arizona. The Facilities Mechanical Section Manager is responsible for leading a team of degreed Mechanical Engineers and multi discipline technicians to startup/commissioning and transition into operations & maintenance of facility systems supporting Advanced semiconductor fabrication. This is a highly visible leadership role that blends deep technical experience with strong leadership and customer focus. The Mechanical section owns safety, environmental, reliability, capacity, configuration, cost and training on Cleanroom HVAC systems, Cleanroom Environment, Air Abatement Systems (both central and local subfab), process & cleaning vacuum systems & Chilled/Hot water systems. The section manager also leads a multi-discipline maintenance team and back half day’s operations through 2 salaried supervisors that manage water, electrical, controls, gas/chem & mechanical technicians.

 

Job Description:

Your main responsibilities include:

 

  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe workplace and sets a high bar for working safely
  • Sets high standards and delivers exceptional leadership for the Mechanical Engineering team, Mechanical Maintenance and Operations supervisors, Lead technician, technician team and service providers
  • Customer Focus: Develop and maintain positive relationships with the factory customers and Facilities counterparts. Must have a heightened sense of urgency and drive to deliver results.
  • Staffing & Training: Ensure adequate staffing & skill sets within the Mechanical engineering, maintenance & operations teams.
  • Leadership: Manage and lead a section of up to 40 hourly and salaried employees. This role must have exemplary leadership skills and adapt leadership style to meet the needs of employees.
  • Reliability: Must drive the team to deliver 100% uptime, drive root cause to unplanned excursions and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Capacity: Ensure facility system capacity is fully understood, documented, and proactively managed to allow for future expansion or changes.
  • Configuration Control & Advanced Troubleshooting: Understand and own all system operation parameters, out of control action plans and provide support for troubleshooting. Drive engineering team to deploy troubleshooting specifications.
  • Cost: Own the budget for the mechanical department. Work with suppliers to develop scope of work, costs, and delivery of O&M services. Provide monthly financial close/variance analysis and forecast for subsequent periods
  • Startup & Commissioning: Lead the startup & commissioning of all mechanical systems. Work closely with the TSMC construction team and construction partners to bring the factory up in a safety and matched manner to meet tool move in dates.
  • Inspect buildings’ physical plant daily to guarantee that building services are at the highest level of quality standards.
  • Ensure the site is operating according to state and local building codes.
  • Set the bar for planning and scheduling of all maintenance work on facility assets including Preventative, Predictive, Corrective and Reactive. 
  • Work closely with Facilities Shift Supervisors to support any off-shift maintenance needs, identify opportunities for improvement in maintenance program
  • Monitor contractors work and ensure work is being performed in accordance with contract specification. 
  • Continually evaluate service delivery process and make needed changes to drive cost savings initiatives including insource vs. outsource. 
  • Understand and lead key performance indicators for the mechanical systems.

The Mechanical Section Manager must have knowledge of industry standards, codes and regulations, and the ability to apply to maintenance operation of site facilities systems:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States and have:

 

  • BS degree, Mechancial Engineering is preferred, yet open to other programs
  • 8-15 years of Mechanical Engineering experience at comparable scale
  • Semiconductor Facilities experience is preferred though industrial experience is acceptable.
  • Experience working with other cultures is preferred
