HR Systems Forward Deployed Engineer

HR Systems Forward Deployed Engineer

A job at TSMC Arizona offers an opportunity to work at the most advanced semiconductor fab in the United States. TSMC Arizona’s first fab operates its leading-edge semiconductor process technology (N4 process), starting production in the first half of 2025. The second fab will utilize its leading-edge N3 and N2 process technology and be operational in 2028. The recently announced third fab will manufacture chips using 2nm or even more advanced process technology, with production starting by the end of the decade. America’s leading technology companies are ready to rely on TSMC Arizona for the next generations of chips that will power the digital future.

As an HR Systems Forward Deployed Engineer, you will demonstrate a strong sense of reliability and enthusiasm and will possess an attitude that embodies our core values – Integrity, Commitment, Innovation and Customer Trust.

  • As an HR Systems Forward Deployed Engineer, you will work side by side with our HR business partners to turn their real workflow pain points into working system solutions. You'll rapidly design and build functional prototypes using Generative AI, LLMs, and agents, validate them directly with HR end users, and partner with IT team to transition the best ideas into secure, production-ready systems—bridging the gap between HR's needs and modern AI technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner directly with HR business partners to understand HR workflows, domain knowledge, and pain points (onboarding, payroll, time & attendance, talent management, etc.).
  • Design and rapidly build functional AI prototypes and PoCs using Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, and AI agents to address HR-specific needs.
  • Use low-code/no-code platforms, APIs, and rapid-prototyping frameworks to validate and iterate solutions in close collaboration with HR end users.
  • Conduct agile testing and evaluation of prototypes for feasibility, accuracy, and business value within tight feedback loops.
  • Partner with core IT and MLOps teams to transition validated prototypes into secure, scalable, production-ready systems, with awareness of HR SaaS platforms (e.g., Workday, SAP, ADP) where integration is needed.
  • Maintain clear documentation and user guides for prototypes to support handover and future productization.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS), Data Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical/engineering field; OR minimum 2 years of professional experience in software development, systems integration, and AI/ML work with Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems (MIS), Data Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical/engineering field

  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong programming skills (Python preferred) with the ability to quickly build working prototypes (e.g., using Streamlit, Gradio, FastAPI, or similar).
    • Working knowledge of Generative AI concepts and APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) — deep AI/ML specialization not required, but comfort building with these tools is.
  • Interpersonal Skills:
    • High learning agility with the ability to quickly grasp complex semiconductor manufacturing concepts, HR workflows, engineering processes, and business logic.
    • Strong problem-solving skills with resourcefulness and passion for using creative, cutting-edge technologies to solve practical problems rapidly.
    • Excellent communication and collaborative skills to bridge technical teams and diverse business stakeholders, translate complex needs into technical solutions, and build trust across the organization.
    • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, and capacity to adapt to changing priorities and emerging business needs.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Primarily an office-based role requiring the ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
    • Ability to use a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment for prolonged periods.
    • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, reach, bend, and carry objects up to 10 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Technical Skills:
    • Prior exposure to HR systems (HRMS, Payroll, ATS, Time & Attendance, or Performance Management).
    • Experience with orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex) or vector databases (Pinecone, Milvus, Chroma).
    • Front-end or full-stack development experience.
    • Awareness of data privacy/PII handling best practices.
