Intensive Program Overview

 

TSMC Arizona (TSMC AZ) collaborates with national and regional partners in the development, implementation, administration, and monitoring of its training programs, such as Apprenticeship and Intensive Programs. The Intensive Program creates the opportunity for participants to receive related technical instruction, in classroom or online format, that is aligned to TSMC AZ standards for a role and will best prepare them for potential employment. The program has been designed with education partners to deliver a strategic Intensive Program over a set number of weeks (~15 weeks). The Manufacturing Specialist Intensive Program is designed to prepare participants to enter into the Manufacturing department of the semiconductor industry with basic preparation and skills.

 

We are currently seeking participants for the Manufacturing Specialist Intensive Program at Grand Canyon University, in partnership with West-MEC, for the June 2025 cohort. The Intensive Program provides a unique gateway to many career paths across the semi-conductor industry and allows the opportunity to be trained by experienced and qualified mentors, coaches and leaders. This structure ensures that you learn very specific and targeted skills in order to thrive when eventually working with a safe, skilled, and dedicated team. Intensive Program Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old and be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D (You can have previous qualifications, like a degree (non-STEM), and still start a career in the semiconductor industry with this opportunity)
  • Updated resume
  • Ability to attend all planned courses during the intensive period
    • June 2025 Cohort is tentatively scheduled for the following:
      • June 2 - July 3; M-Th, 1-7 PM
      • July 7- July 11 will be on-site learning at TSMC; no classes at GCU
      • July 14 - August 15; M-Th, 1-7 PM
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment upon completion of the intensive program
  • Energetic and proactive with a positive, can-do and friendly personality

Responsibilities:

As a participant in the Manufacturing Specialist Intensive, you are attending classes over a period of ~15 weeks, Monday through Thursday, as well as participating in a week-long shadowing experience onsite at TSMC. It is expected that you will follow and adhere to the following, when applicable:

  • Work safely in accordance with applicable TSMC AZ policies and division-specific work rules.
  • Comply with absenteeism and tardiness policies at work and school.
  • Attend and participate in related instructional and educational programs and maintain the highest possible grades, as required.
  • Be involved and show dedication to your training, both on the job and in the classroom.
  • Show dedication and interest in learning the occupation.
  • Show respect to the educational professionals and skilled person(s) training and supervising you.
  • Comply with the provisions of the Intensive program
  • When applicable, follow TSMC AZs’ written work rules and applicable policies and procedures. Intensive participants will be required to follow policies and performance expectations as specifically stated in the Intensive Program Handbook.
    • Intensive participants violating policies will be subject to progressive discipline including and to termination of the relationship.
    • Intensive participants not making satisfactory progress throughout the program or otherwise failing to complete the program may be removed from the program and their potential for employment terminated at any time.

 

Intensive Program Learning Objectives

 

Upon successful completion of the Manufacturing Specialist Intensive Program, each participant will be able to perform the following functions:

 

Manufacturing Specialist

  • Learn and become familiar with the manufacturing/engineering process and stay informed of any changes in procedures.
  • Monitor different integrated systems to ensure the automated tools are running properly and assist in handling abnormal events that occur in production.
  • Handle time sensitive material in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Work with supporting modules on actions to bring the process/tools back to baseline.
  • Assist in creating training or SOP documents.
  • Train new members onto the team once skill levels reach a certain level on the team.
  • Perform various tasks in a disciplined manner in accordance with SOPs (Standard Operation Procedure), and report problems to supervisors.
