Onsite AI Automation & Agent Specialist (HR Systems)

A job at TSMC Arizona offers an opportunity to work at the most advanced semiconductor fab in the United States. TSMC Arizona’s first fab will operate its leading-edge semiconductor process technology (N4 process), starting production in the first half of 2025. The second fab will utilize its leading-edge N3 and N2 process technology and be operational in 2028. The recently announced third fab will manufacture chips using 2nm or even more advanced process technology, with production starting by the end of the decade. America’s leading technology companies are ready to rely on TSMC Arizona for the next generations of chips that will power the digital future.

As an Onsite AI Automation & Agent Specialist, you will demonstrate a strong sense of reliability and enthusiasm and will possess an attitude that embodies our core values – Integrity, Commitment, Innovation and Customer Trust.

About the Role

This is a 12-month, fixed-term contract role based 100% onsite at the TSMC Arizona campus in Phoenix, AZ. As an experienced, hands-on AI Automation Specialist, you will work directly alongside our onsite HR and operations teams to modernize and automate human-resources workflows across a large-scale semiconductor manufacturing environment. Because of the highly secure and dynamic nature of the campus, this role requires 100% onsite presence.

In this role you will build and deploy secure AI agents to assist with employee inquiries, high-volume onboarding, and training support; automate complex HR workflows to eliminate manual data entry, optimize shift-change handoffs, and streamline cross-departmental approvals; and leverage cutting-edge Agentic AI development tools and AI-assisted coding practices to rapidly prototype, test, and deploy secure enterprise solutions. The ideal candidate is a technical builder who thrives in a fast-paced enterprise environment, communicates clearly, and can translate complex physical-to-digital HR processes into automated, AI-driven workflows.

Position Type: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract

Location: Onsite – TSMC Arizona (Phoenix, AZ). Must be local or willing to relocate to the Phoenix metro area for the duration of the contract.

Reports To: Head of Organization Effectiveness and People Operations

Responsibilities:

  • AI Agent Development (HR): Design and implement human-in-the-loop (HITL) workflows within Agentic AI systems so that critical HR decisions and data updates always have human oversight before execution.
    • Train and fine-tune AI agents on internal HR documentation, localized policies, benefits, and shift-work guidelines to ensure high accuracy and eliminate hallucinations.
    • Integrate AI agents into internal enterprise communication channels (e.g., Slack, Microsoft Teams, or internal portals) in compliance with strict corporate network-security protocols.
  • HR Workflow Automation: Audit, map, and optimize existing manual HR processes unique to a large-scale manufacturing environment, including high-volume onboarding, shift-rotation scheduling, leave-of-absence tracking, and compliance training.
    • Use state-of-the-art Agentic AI coding tools (such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Windsurf) to accelerate code generation, automate testing, and perform real-time code refactoring for HR integrations.
    • Build robust automated workflows connecting the HRIS (e.g., Workday, BambooHR, or enterprise ERPs) with other operational tools using automation platforms such as Make.com, n8n, or Zapier.
    • Write custom scripts (Python/JavaScript) where necessary to handle complex data transformation, webhooks, and secure API integrations.
  • Security, Compliance & Onsite Collaboration: Work closely with onsite IT, cybersecurity, and data-governance teams to ensure all AI-driven systems strictly comply with data-privacy regulations and internal security policies.
    • Conduct rigorous testing of AI systems to ensure they safely handle sensitive Employee PII (Personally Identifiable Information).
    • Provide detailed documentation, build system-architecture maps, and conduct hands-on training sessions for the HR team to ensure a seamless handoff at the end of the 12-month term.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, HR, or a related technical field; equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered.
  • Technical Skills:
    • 3+ years of experience in AI engineering, workflow automation, or enterprise-systems integration. Prior experience working onsite in a manufacturing, engineering, or high-security corporate environment is highly preferred.
    • Proven experience building custom AI agents and working with LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.), prompt engineering, and vector databases or RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems.
    • Hands-on experience with Agentic software-engineering tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, or GitHub Copilot Workspace) to accelerate development pipelines.
    • Mastery of integration and automation platforms such as Make.com, Zapier, or n8n.
    • Proficiency in Python or JavaScript/TypeScript for writing custom APIs, parsing data, and building custom integrations.
    • Familiarity with enterprise HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, SAP SuccessFactors) and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
  • Interpersonal Skills:
    • Ability to translate complex technical AI/ML concepts into clear, actionable recommendations for non-technical HR stakeholders.
    • Strong written documentation skills for system architecture diagrams, runbooks, and handoff materials.
    • Effective cross-functional collaboration with IT, cybersecurity, and data governance teams.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to work onsite daily at the TSMC campus in Phoenix, AZ, and to comply with all onsite safety, security, and badging requirements.

Shift Expectations

  • Standard work hours: Monday through Friday
  • Primarily an office-based role requiring the ability to sit for extended periods of time while working at a computer.
  • Ability to use a computer, keyboard mouse and other standard office equipment for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, reach, bend, and carry light objects.
  • May require occasional travel to company sites or other meetings that involve walking through office, industrial or construction environments.

Project Deliverables (12-Month Roadmap)

  • Months 1–3 (Discovery & Foundation): Map all manual HR workflows, align with IT/Cybersecurity on data-privacy boundaries, and build the foundational RAG pipeline for the internal HR AI agent.
  • Months 4–6 (First Deployments): Launch Phase 1 of the HR AI agent (internal policy, benefits, and FAQ assistant) and automate the high-volume onboarding and badging workflows.
  • Months 7–9 (Scale & Advanced Automation): Roll out Phase 2 of the AI agent (handling complex employee requests) and automate mid-funnel HR processes such as shift-schedule requests, performance-review prompts, and exit-interview data collection.
  • Months 10–12 (Optimization & Handoff): Conduct deep security and performance audits, optimize the AI agent's accuracy based on user feedback, write comprehensive system documentation, and train internal staff for a complete handoff.
