Process Piping Technician I
- The Process Piping Technician I works under the supervision of a senior technician or supervisor to assist in installing and maintaining semiconductor process piping systems, including UPW, plastic, gas, and chemical systems. Key responsibilities include cutting, threading, joining pipes (using welding, brazing, or compression techniques), reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics, troubleshooting tool installation issues, performing material handling, equipment setup and cleanup, and collaborating with other systems like HVAC, electrical, and mechanical piping.
Responsibilities:
- Work under the supervision of a senior technician or supervisor to assist in installing and maintaining semiconductor process piping systems for UPW, plastic, gas, & chemical, helping with proper routing, secure connections, and ensuring compliance with cleanroom contamination protocols.
- Perform tasks such as cutting, threading, and joining pipes using techniques like welding, brazing, and compression under the guidance of experienced team members
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents with accuracy to ensure proper installation and functionality.
- Perform material handling, basic equipment setup, and cleanup in compliance with safety and cleanliness standards.
- Support leak testing, pressure testing, and inspections to ensure the functionality and safety of piping systems.
- Maintain accurate records of piping installations and inspections as directed by the supervisor or project lead
- Follow instruction to troubleshoot and resolve issues during tool installation, including utility alignment, leak detection, and performance verification.
- Collaborate with other systems (mechanical piping, electrical, HVAC) under supervision to assist with the smooth integration of systems.
- Follow strict safety protocols and semiconductor industry cleanliness standards, including contamination control in cleanroom environments.
- Other related job duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
- Education:
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of experience in process piping installation
- OSHA 30 certification
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in installation of process piping systems, including routing and securing pipes.
- Ability to interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and construction drawings.
- Competency in joining techniques, including welding, brazing, and use of compression fittings.
- Familiarity with semiconductor cleanroom standards and process piping installation protocols.
- Willingness to support international projects.

- Physical Requirements:
- The ability to lift equipment and tools, sometimes up to 35 pounds or even more with assistance for heavier items, working on ladders/lifts, working in tight spaces.
- Standing or walking for significant portions of the workday.

- Training:
- Ability to travel to overseas for training for extended periods (length depends on business needs).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Welding / Brazing certification
Shift expectations:
- TSMC Arizona operates 24/7, 365 days a year. This position requires candidate to have ability and willingness to work any shift (day or night) in a compressed work week schedule once training is done. The compressed work week shift structure is Work 4 days on, 3 days off for one week and 3 days on, 4 days off the next week. Each shift is 12 hours, from 6am to 6pm or 6pm to 6am.
- Scheduled night shifts and weekend on-call rotations in a 24/7 high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Night shift rotations are expected to be no more than 4 months per calendar year.
- Standard work hours: Monday through Friday
