Senior Mechanical Piping Technician

  • The Senior Mechanical Piping Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical piping systems while ensuring adherence to safety regulations and industry standards. The role involves supervising teams, coordinating daily activities, conducting inspections, managing schedules, and collaborating with project stakeholders to achieve design optimizations and operational efficiency.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Direct the crew in the installation and maintenance of mechanical piping systems, ensuring proper routing, secure connections, and strict adherence to cleanroom protocols.
  • Oversee and conduct pressure testing, leak detection, and system inspections to ensure safety and functionality while guiding the team through testing procedures.
  • Take responsibility for Interpreting piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and ensure all mechanical piping installations comply with industry standards and cleanroom requirements.
  • Collaborate with other systems, such as electrical, process piping, and HVAC, ensuring seamless integration and resolving cross-disciplinary issues as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with project managers, engineers, and clients, providing updates, resolving concerns, and aligning project expectations.
  • Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of piping installations and inspections by the crew, reviewing and approving records for submission.
  • Ensure all teams adhere to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and cleanroom contamination protocols specific to the facility.
  • Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • 9+years of construction experience, with 3+ years in a supervisory or management role
    • OSHA 30 certification  
  • Technical Skills:
    • Deep understanding of large-scale mechanical piping installations, including high-pressure and specialty systems.
    • Strategic planning and project management across multiple teams and mechanical systems.
    • Expertise in designing workflows for mechanical piping installations and enforcing safety procedures.
    • High-level skills in conducting inspections and audits for mechanical piping system compliance and functionality.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of facility utilities, mechanical piping installation procedures, and cleanroom standards.
    • Advanced troubleshooting and optimization of mechanical piping systems, including integration with other utilities.
    • Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Ability to lead, supervise, and coordinate teams for mechanical piping installation and maintenance.
    • Extensive experience in semiconductor tool hookups.
    • Willingness to support international projects.

    • Capable of lifting materials, working on ladders/lifts, and standing for long periods of time
  • Training:
    • Ability to travel to overseas for training for extended periods (length depends on business needs).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Welding / Brazing certification

 

Shift expectations:

  • TSMC Arizona operates 24/7, 365 days a year. This position requires candidate to have ability and willingness to work any shift (day or night) in a compressed work week schedule once training is done. The compressed work week shift structure is Work 4 days on, 3 days off for one week and 3 days on, 4 days off the next week.  Shift is 12 hour shifts from 6am to 6pm or 6pm to 6am.
  • Scheduled night shifts and weekend on-call rotations in a 24/7 high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Night shift rotations are expected to be no more than 4 months per calendar year.
  • Standard work hours: Monday through Friday
