Senior Process Piping Technician

 

  • The Senior Process Piping Technician leads a team to install and maintain semiconductor process piping systems for gas and chemical delivery while ensuring cleanroom contamination protocols are met. Responsibilities include interpreting piping diagrams, overseeing leak and pressure testing, ensuring compliance with industry standards, coordinating with other systems (mechanical piping, electrical, HVAC), and maintaining accurate documentation. The role also involves high-level project management, troubleshooting, and regulatory compliance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the crew in installing and maintaining semiconductor process piping systems for gas and chemical delivery, ensuring proper routing, secure connections, and strict adherence to cleanroom contamination protocols.
  • Oversee and conduct leak testing, pressure testing, and inspections to verify the functionality and safety of piping systems, while guiding the team through testing procedures.
  • Take responsibility for interpreting piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and ensuring all installations comply with industry standards and cleanroom requirements.
  • Direct and coordinate with other systems (mechanical piping, electrical, HVAC), ensuring seamless integration of systems and resolving issues between disciplines as necessary
  • Communicate regularly with project managers, engineers, and clients to provide updates, resolve concerns, and align expectations.
  • Ensure accurate and comprehensive records of piping installations and inspections are maintained by the crew, reviewing and approving documentation before submission
  • Ensure all teams adhere to safety protocols, cleanroom requirements, and environmental regulations specific to semiconductor facilities.
  • Other related duties as required.

 

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Highschool diploma or equivalent
    • 9+years of construction experience, with 3+ years in a supervisory or management role.
    • OSHA 30 certification

 

  • Technical Skills:
    • Expertise in large-scale process piping installations, including high-pressure and specialty gas systems.
    • Strategic planning and project management for process piping across multiple teams and systems.
    • Designing process piping workflows and enforcing safety procedures for hazardous materials.
    • Conducting high-level inspections and ensuring regulatory compliance across piping systems.
    • Advanced troubleshooting and optimization of semiconductor process piping systems.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of semiconductor facility utilities, installation procedures, and cleanroom standards.
    • Extensive experience in semiconductor tool hookups with a proven track record in managing teams or projects.
  • Interpersonal Skills:
    • Advanced project management and organizational skills,
    • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • The ability to lift equipment and tools, sometimes up to 35 pounds or even more (with assistance for heavier items, working on ladders/lifts, working in tight spaces.
    • Standing or walking for significant portions of the workday.
    • Frequent grasping, manipulation, and occasional twisting, bending, stooping, squatting, or reaching.
    • Desk-based computer work, including data analysis and documentation.
  • Training:
    • Ability to travel to overseas for training for extended periods (length depends on business needs).

 

Shift expectations:

  • TSMC Arizona operates 24/7, 365 days a year. This position requires candidate to have ability and willingness to work any shift (day or night) in a compressed work week schedule once training is done. The compressed work week shift structure is Work 4 days on, 3 days off for one week and 3 days on, 4 days off the next week.  Each shift is 12 hours, from 6am to 6pm or 6pm to 6am.
  • Scheduled night shifts and weekend on-call rotations in a 24/7 high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Night shift rotations are expected to be no more than 4 months per calendar year.
  • Standard work hours: Monday through Friday
