Our systems are designed to run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year without interruption, creating a state-of-the-art manufacturing environment.
Water System Project Engineers work in a dynamic field-engineering role, balancing active hands-on site coordination (approx. 50/50) with engineering design review and project management in an office environment.
Responsibilities:
- Construction & Project Execution: Coordinate, supervise, and drive the field construction, piping installation, and commissioning of new fab water systems (UPW [Ultra Pure Water], wastewater, and reclamation).
- Schedule & Quality Control: Take active ownership of construction schedules, field inspection checklists, and quality control protocols to ensure systems are built to TSMC’s ultra-high-purity (UHP) standards.
- Cross-Organizational Coordination: Act as the central engineering link between local trade partners, general contractors, equipment suppliers, and TSMC's internal design and operations teams to resolve spatial, mechanical, and process interferences.
- Commissioning Support: Actively participate in the system start-up, pressure/leak testing, and functional testing of pumps, filtration systems, and water treatment equipment.
- Contractor Management: Support the development, training, and alignment of local specialty subcontractors to ensure their field execution complies with rigorous safety and engineering requirements.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Environmental, Water Resources, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in industrial water/wastewater systems (UPW, DI [De-ionized], RO [Reverse Osmosis], or specialized wastewater treatment).
- Technical Skills:
- Hands-on experience in construction supervision, engineering project management, or facility design/operation with a consulting, contracting, or manufacturing firm.
- Interpersonal Skills:
- A proactive, self-driven mindset with a strong track record of identifying and solving operational bottlenecks independently.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable logic for both operators and executives.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly master unfamiliar hardware/software systems and technical documentation.
- Physical Requirements:
- May spend extended hours working inside and outside in all weather conditions, and in awkward body positions which can cause physical discomfort and strain.
- The position will come in contact with sharp, hot, and cold equipment, and parts.
- Sensory demands include exposure to the smells associated with industrial chemical/water operations, exposure to the sounds associated with powered tools and industrial equipment.
- Must have the ability to safely climb ladders, and work at elevation from ladders, scaffolding, lifts, roofs, or platforms, and the ability to work in confined spaces.
- Training:
- Opportunity for global exposure, including structured technical training at TSMC’s headquarters in Taiwan to master the world's most advanced semiconductor manufacturing utilities technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Chemical, Environmental, Water Resources, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
- Experience within the semiconductor, pharmaceutical, power generation, or high-tech manufacturing sectors—or with top-tier industrial water consulting firms.
Shift:
- Standard work hours: Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm or 9am to 6pm
