Overview of Role

TSMC Corporate Research Organization is looking for fresh PhDs with a broad range of expertise on AI hardware. Hired individuals are expected to efficiently support and advise other TSMC organizations with respect to AI applications, algorithms, architectures, circuits, and their device technology implications while being active in publications and patents. You will be reporting directly to the Sr. Program Manager, North America for our Corporate Research AI Hardware department. This position is in San Jose, CA and we are currently operating in a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in office.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Architecture and circuit design for AI applications and their co-optimization with the device technology
  • Benchmarking technology and design options for generative AI

 

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • Hands-on experience on:
    • Generative AI algorthms 
    • AI accelerator architectures
    • Near/in-memory computing macro design (tapeout experience is a plus)
    • Alternative data formats and quantization
    • Python and Pytorch

 

Other relevant experience:

  • GPU architectures
  • 2.5D/3D packaging and co-packaged optics
  • SRAM/DRAM/emerging NVM
  • Network-on-Chip topologies

Pay Transparency / Benefits statement

At TSMC, your base pay is only part of your overall total compensation package. At the time of this posting, this role typically pays a base salary between $128,500 and $175,000 per year. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires. Actual pay may be more or less than the posted range. Factors that influence pay include the individual's skills, qualifications, education, experience and the position level and location.  TSMC’s total compensation package consists of market competitive pay, allowances, bonuses, and comprehensive benefits. We also offer extensive development opportunities and programs.
