Senior Standard Cell Engineer (5105)

As a Senior Engineer for Standard Cell Library, you will have the opportunity to work with TSMC's leading process technology
and portfolio of design enablement solutions to unleash innovation for the global semiconductor industry.
Join us in the San Jose Design Office and be part of the team that pushes the boundaries of what's possible in
the world of semiconductor manufacturing. You will report to the Manager of Standard Cell Customization Design Section
in San Jose, California. We are currently operating in a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in office.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Our goal is to enhance design methodologies, tools, and flows in order to elevate the efficiency and quality
    of the design process. We aim to provide innovative perspectives that will strengthen current tools and flows,
    and create solutions to address the most advanced tech node challenges in PPA (Power, Performance, Area)
  • Work on designing and characterizing standard cell libraries in the latest technology node, while also advancing
    the concepts of circuit design at the transistor level, as well as modeling and analyzing performance
  • Work together with global teams from different functions to address library-related concerns and undergo enhanced quality checks for our library work
  • Engage with customers to understand new library requirements and identify PPA (Power, Performance, Area)
    knobs through generic and/or custom solutions
  • Document and present design results, analysis, and recommendations to customers and internal teams
  • Communicate effectively with customers to ensure that all project milestones are met on time.
  • Track and prioritize tasks across multiple event releases and efforts simultaneously

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering with 5+ years of related work experience;
    Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering with 7+ years of related work experience
  • Extensive knowledge of standard cell library design, layout composition, and simulation verification
  • Proficiency in generating timing, power, noise, and OCV views of standard cells, as well as validating
    data and conducting QA processes
  • Hands-on experience with CAD tools such as Virtuoso and Hspice
  • Ability to work regularly at a customer site in the South Bay Area and travel (international) up to 10% in a year

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-depth understanding of CMOS circuit robustness and weakness. Capable of circuit optimization
    based on device behavior of different technology nodes
  • Familiarity with standard cell libraries and design methodologies
  • Strong proficiency in scripting language, such as, Perl and Tcl
  • Proven experience within project management, leading complex projects from start to finish
  • Good communication skills and interpersonal skills are required

Pay Transparency / Benefits statement

At TSMC, your base pay is only part of your overall total compensation package. At the time of this posting, this role typically pays a base salary between $108,000 and $203,000 per year. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires. Actual pay may be more or less than the posted range. Factors that influence pay include the individual's skills, qualifications, education, experience and the position level and location.  TSMC’s total compensation package consists of market competitive pay, allowances, bonuses, and comprehensive benefits. We also offer extensive development opportunities and programs.
