Silicon Photonics - Technical Lead

As a Technical Lead/Manager – Silicon Photonics, you will report to the Senior Director, Design and Technology Platform where you will get to work with TSMC ecosystem partners to define and implement custom design solutions for silicon photonics applications.  This position is located in San Jose, CA where we are currently operating in a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in office.

 

Responsibilities

  • Drive the definition, design, simulation, layout and tape-out, test and validation, data analysis and performance debug of complex silicon photonics circuits using optical PDK components.
  • Work with customers on silicon photonics product definition, design, integration, testing and qualification.
  • Define and drive the implementation of multi-die silicon photonics packaging solutions with 3D integration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Masters or PhD in electrical engineering, opto-electronics, physics or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience in silicon photonics design and characterization.
  • Proven track record in design, simulation and verification of silicon photonics circuits using Ansys/Lumerical simulation tools.
  • Practical experience with optical packaging including fiber and coupling techniques required.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical and optical process test structures, automated characterization and parameter extraction for optical PDK validation.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant industry experience in silicon photonics System-level integration experience 
  • Experience with Cadence Virtuoso or Synopsys OptoCompiler 
  • Experience with Laser coupling

At TSMC, your base pay is only part of your overall total compensation package. At the time of this posting, this role typically pays a base salary between $$149,000 and $263,000 per year. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires. Actual pay may be more or less than the posted range. Factors that influence pay include the individual's skills, qualifications, education, experience and the position level and location.  TSMC’s total compensation package consists of market competitive pay, allowances, bonuses, and comprehensive benefits.
