Technical Manager - Materials Development and QR

As the Technical Manager for Materials Development and QR, you will be responsible for overseeing two key organizational units: the materials development engineering team and the quality management department focused on materials analysis. This role requires strong communication skills, including proficiency in English, as well as the ability to effectively coordinate and lead teams.

 

Role:

  • Lead and supervise the materials development engineering team, guiding them in the research, design, and development of new materials and the enhancement of existing materials to meet performance and cost objectives.
  • Oversee the quality management department responsible for materials analysis, ensuring adherence to rigorous quality standards and efficient analysis procedures.
  • Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing between the materials development and quality analysis teams to optimize processes and achieve high-quality results.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Japanese materials suppliers, understanding their technologies and capabilities, and identifying opportunities for technical collaboration and improvement.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within both teams, leveraging technical expertise to identify areas for optimization and enhancement.
  • Act as a liaison between the technical teams and upper management, providing regular updates on project progress, resource needs, and strategic direction.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D and Manufacturing team in HQ to ensure alignment of materials strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements related to materials development and quality analysis, and integrate relevant insights into organizational strategies.
     

 

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or higher in materials science, chemical engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in materials development and/or quality analysis, with demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, including proficiency in English and the ability to effectively communicate technical information.
  • Experience working with Japanese materials suppliers and a solid understanding of Japanese business culture and communication norms.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to drive innovation and process optimization.
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and navigate complex technical challenges.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards governing materials development and quality analysis processes.
  • Project management skills and the ability to effectively manage resources and timelines.
