Who We're Looking For:

At TSMC, we are committed to building cutting-edge cloud-native infrastructure to support our global operations. Our North America Software Center is seeking a skilled software engineer with extensive experience in building and operating Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) on AWS or Azure. This role requires expertise in designing managed service deployment architectures, network topologies, and ensuring security and compliance within PaaS environments. The ideal candidate will be passionate about creating resilient and scalable platforms while driving innovation and operational excellence across our cloud ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design, build, and operate Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) systems in TSMC IT platform to support scalable and secure enterprise applications.
  2. Develop robust managed service deployment architectures with a focus on reliability, scalability, and performance.
  3. Establish optimized network topologies, ensuring efficient and secure connectivity within PaaS environments.
  4. Implement and oversee security and compliance management to meet internal and external regulatory standards.
  5. Lead efforts in improving system reliability, availability, and maintainability through automation and continuous monitoring.
  6. Collaborate with software engineers, architects, and DevOps teams to define standards and drive best practices for PaaS implementation and operations.
  7. Provide technical expertise on cost optimization, resource management, and system architecture for cloud services.
  8. Guide the lifecycle of services, from initial design and deployment to operations, monitoring, and ongoing refinement.
  9. Mentor team members on PaaS architecture, operational strategies, and cloud infrastructure best practices.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields, or equivalent practical experience.
  2. At least 8 years of experience in designing, building, and operating PaaS systems in AWS or Azure or GCP.
  3. Deep knowledge of managed service deployment architecture, including resource orchestration, security protocols, and monitoring solutions.
  4. Strong experience with network topology design and optimization, including VPCs, subnets, firewalls, load balancers, and secure connectivity.
  5. Proven track record in security and compliance management, with familiarity in frameworks like SOC2, ISO27001, or similar standards.
  6. Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python, Go, Java, or other relevant tools for automation and infrastructure management.
  7. Minimum 3 years of technical leadership experience, driving project teams and setting technical direction for PaaS initiatives.
  8. Practical knowledge of cloud cost optimization strategies, resource scaling, and performance tuning for PaaS platforms.
  9. Familiarity with container orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines for PaaS deployment workflows.
  10. Excellent communication skills for collaboration across diverse global teams and delivering updates to stakeholders.

Work Location & Schedule:

This position is based on-site at our Vancouver, Washington location during core business hours, Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. Additional hours may be required to meet project demands.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • At TSMC, your base pay is just one component of your comprehensive compensation package. For new hires in this position, the starting salary typically ranges between $166,800 and $223,050 per year. The full salary range for this Job Grade extends from $166,800 - $241,800 depending on factors such as skills, qualifications, education, experience, tenure, and position level. TSMC’s total compensation package also includes market-competitive pay, profit sharing and incentive bonuses, and tuition assistance.
